Global Macro Portfolios: PANOPTIC

Investment Strategy

Champion’s Global Macro Strategies are diversified international equity portfolios with a particular emphasis on emerging markets. Investments in countries and sectors that are poised to experience favorable intermediate to long-term growth are sought. Champion considers the following key factors: trading patterns, capital flows, inflation rates, economic growth differentials and valuation levels. In addition, portfolio risk is managed by diversifying among uncorrelated assets as well as taking careful consideration of a country’s stability. In developing the asset allocation, Champion adheres to an investment approach that integrates quantitative historical analysis, forward-looking analysis and top-down macroeconomic analysis.

Investment Process

PANOPTIC – or Global Macro International Equity Strategy – provides institutional investors an equity allocation strategy that has the goal to enhance the dollar returns of an un-hedged global equity market portfolio.  Our macro based quantitative models assesses the relative attractiveness of at least 25 developed (15) and emerging (10) countries.  Countries are ranked according to equity valuations, economic growth potential, monetary and currency conditions, and geopolitical risks.  Our proposed equity allocation is compared to three indices - the MSCI World, MSCI World X-US and MSCI Emerging Market Indices – for country, region, currency, and industry sector concentrations.  Our primary index, the MSCI World, is the index by which this strategy is ultimately measured compared.
